I’ve known for some time how powerful words and language are and indeed the energy of words and the energy behind them can have a big effect on people both good and bad. Not many people are aware that words can be used to hex, curse or put spells on people as well as make people feel safe, secure and loved. This is why children are taught to ‘spell’!!!

I feel that people put hexes and spells on people without realising what they are doing on a conscious level.

One of the things that I didn’t realise until today, when chatting to a friend is that the word ‘left’ comes from the latin word ‘sinistra’ which means sinister! When I investigated a bit further I found that the word for right in latin is dexter which the word dextrous, meaning skilful has been derived form.

This is why we talk about making sure we  get out of the ‘right ‘side of the bed or being on the ‘right’ side of him/her.

A person who is right handed is expected to be ‘skilful’ and may have a tendency to be more left brained and so more logical where a left handed person is thought to be more right brained which is the intuitive, spiritual side of the brain. This is perhaps why the word left came from the word sinistro leading to sinister as, very spiritual people were misunderstood and thought to be a threat. Indeed left handed people were often burned at the stake years ago.

Interestingly whilst the right side of the brain is the intuitive side it is the left side of the body that is the intuitive spiritual side, it is also the feminine side of the body whilst the right side of the body is  the masculine more logical side. When you look at the body psychology like this and then the way the word right has been missed used to mean correct it is reinforcing in people subliminally that the logical, scientific, masculine part of you is what is correct and the feminine, nurturing, spiritual side of you is not correct!

This is in a way a hex as it forces you subconsciously to think that the male, materialistic, logical side of people needs to be more powerful than the feminine, nurturing, spiritual side of them. Its no wonder we have been living in a world where women have been fighting for equality and where there are many women who have developed the masculine side of the in business and other walks of life in order to ‘survive ‘ in what we term a ‘mans’ world.

We need to think about what we are saying more and use the word ‘correct’ when something is correct rather than right so that we aren’t implying that left is wrong!
