Disillusioned with New Years Resolutions ?

I read somewhere recently that only 25% of people who set a New Years resolution actually achieve it and that 1 in 5 people give up within a week of setting it!

The reasons that were given in what I was reading was that its because people don’t understand why they want to change, their goals aren’t specific enough, they don’t have an action plan and they dont reward themselves when they make progress.

All of these things are important but when you look at things from a higher perspective it becomes more obvious as to why people don’t achieve their New Years Resolutions.

I feel that many people see an area in their life that they know they need to address so set a resolution to change it without understanding why this area of their life needs addressing or why there is even an issue.

For example, many people decide to give up smoking, so they will decide to try using the patches to help them give up, not realising that all patches are doing is giving them the same chemicals to feed their addiction in a different format. In fact an addiction like smoking is a symptom of a much deeper problem, so if you want to give up smoking you need to work what the trigger was for you to start smoking in the first place and then address the issue and heal it on a deep level so that the addiction be released and your resolution achieved easily. Interestingly I worked with someone who had smoked since they were a teenager and eventually found and cleared the root cause of the smoking energetically in July 2018. It took until the beginning of November 2018 for the energies to realign and then the person woke up one day and didn’t want another cigarette, has not had one since and has no cravings.

Someone who is shy may decide they need to do something to get themselves meeting people but may feel overwhelmed in a group situation. Addressing the issues that relate to the shyness will make it so much easier to go out and be their authentic selves without feeling shy or nervous.

The information that I read suggests that it is only the very determined strong willed people who will actually achieve New Years resolutions. It also suggests that putting a plan of action in place and being specific and even having a reward system will help but I believe that nothing on this planet was ever meant to be hard work. We should all be able to achieve our New Years resolutions easily but we need to go inward and heal to do that. The more that we heal and open our true heart centres the easier it becomes to manifest our desires and achieve what we want to achieve.

Learning to love ourselves is key and as we move forward into 2020 we are going to be really pushed to look at the areas of our lives that don’t make us happy and to do something to change that. We need to be our authentic selves and we need to love ourselves and nurture ourselves first of all because until we learn to do that we will find life challenging. We have been programmed to believe that loving ourselves and putting ourselves first is selfish and yet we cannot truly love anyone else until we love ourselves and we cant look after and support anyone else properly until we are willing to do that for ourselves.

The New Year gives us an opportunity to stop, take a breath, and look at the areas of our life that we wish to change and if you want to make a resolution then thats great but when you do, look at why you want that resolution in place, and what it is that actually needs to be addressed for you to be able to achieve your goal. Then take the courage to go inward to do the healing work so that you can achieve your goal with ease.

Probably the most important New Years Resolution that we can all make this year is to learn to love ourselves more and to be kind and nurturing to ourselves. That way we will reconnect with love that is already there with us and can then project that love out to others.
