I caught up with an old friend today and we had an extremely interesting conversation. We talked about a lot of different things but as we put the world to rights we came once again (we have had these sorts of conversations before) to the conclusion that many people are not happy with their lives and have too much going on but they are constantly looking outside of themselves for the answers. Few people want to take responsibility for their lives or their happiness and yet we can create our own happiness and we can change our lives but the change has to start from within.
These days we see people wanting quick fixes and gratification which come in forms such as fast foods, alcohol, chocolate and medications. I am sure that life was never meant to be so fast, nor were we ever meant to be cutting ourselves off from each other and yet we do. We have all these social networking websites but when did you last have a proper conversation with your neighbour? When did you last stop to talk to someone in the street? And indeed with the phones that we constantly carry our lives aren’t are own are they? Have you ever stopped to think about that? When you are answering a text as soon as it arrives on your phone or going onto Facebook as soon as its apparent someone has updated their status, you are working to someone elses priorities and not your own.
It seemed to my friend and myself that people also don’t want to help others anymore because they have too much stuff going on in their own lives. No one listens anymore no one sees what is actually going on especially with those wha are vulnerable. How do we put this right? What is it that we can do to change things in our own lives?
Firstly I feel that its important for us to realise that we are all intelligent beings who have the capacity to heal ourselves and bring ourselves to a place of love and peace and enjoy a happy life but we have to go within we have to release everything that no longer serves us. Letting go of grudges, forgiving others and forgiving ourselves are all part of this process. We also need to stop taking things for granted and recognise how blessed we really are. When was the last time you thought to thank the universe for the roof over your head, the clothes you are wearing, the support network you have around you, the food you have to eat? When did you last notice a beautiful sunrise or the spring flowers going their head above the ground? When did you last thank the universe for the birds singing in the trees or the beautiful butterflies flying around you?
When we start to have mindfulness we start to notice the little things in our lives. When we start to be grateful for what we have in our lives we start to attract more blessings in. The Laws of the universe are such that our every thought, word and deed shape our lives. Somehow along the way, man has become so embroiled in what everyone else is doing that he has lost touch with himself and the beauty within his life and yet we can’t help others unless we first are willing to take responsibility for ourselves. Change needs to come from within so if you want more loving relationships within your life you first have to love yourself. If you want more respect then you need to show yourself respect. If you want peace in your life then you need to connect with the peace within so that you attract more peace in.
The world needs to stop looking outside and trying to change others because that won’t actually solve the problem and in fact will often cause it to worsen. When you try and rescue someone by ‘helping them’ with something they actually need to deal with themself, you may actually be inadvertently stopping them from learning their own lessons which means they will have them presented to them again. I remember having a client who kept trying to sort things out for some members of her family. I helped her to see that she was trying to rescue them and that in actual fact she wasn’t doing them any favours. Once she acknowledged this and turned her focus back to herself she started to make progress and really heal which then changed the relationships with her family for the better.
It is all too easy to get embroiled in other people’s ’stuff’ but its their drama not yours so let them deal with it. Support them by all means but do it in a way that empowers them to deal with their dramas, learn their lessons and grow. I know from my own experiences it can be difficult not to get involved especially if it is someone where there is a close attachment but it is in their best interests to let them learn their lessons themselves.
Listening to someone and allowing them to draw their own conclusions as to how to deal with a situation is far more empowering for them than getting involved and telling them what to do. We can ask the angels to assist us when we are trying to deal with a situation too. They cannot help us unless we ask them too so if you find yourself with a challenging situation, ask the angels guide you and then be open to the answers as they may be given to you in many different ways. So we are back to mindfulness here again as when you have mindfulness you are living in the now, the precise moment and when you are able to do that you are able to see and hear everything that is presented to you by the universe as you are not worrying about the past or the future. You cannot change the past and what you think, say and do are shaping the future so be mindful, be present and create the future that you truly want.
When everyone in the world realises that to have peace, love and respect in this world they need to love themselves unconditionally, respect themselves and connect with the peace that is within each and everyone of us then we will have a world filled with people who respect each other, and love each other and then we will create peace.
